Marion Doerr
|
Marion Doerr is a graduate of the Indiana University School of Music, with degrees in both vocal and instrumental music. Her teaching career began in Chatham, NJ, teaching K-5 elementary music, 5th-8th grade band, accompanying choirs, and writing drills and arranging music for the HS marching band. At N. Plainfield HS and MS, she was the choral director and assistant marching band director for 3 ½ years, and then traveled to Mt. Horeb School in Warren to teach elementary music for 6 months prior to having her first of 3 children. Through a nomination from Msgr. William Capik, she received the honor of “Somerset County Women of Achievement in the Arts” Award in 2001. She taught for 4 years at Somerset County Vo-Tech in the music theatre department, and is part of the Artist-in-Residence program at the Papermill Playhouse, in addition to providing private vocal and piano instruction for almost 20 years. Marion has musically directed and/or directed close to 40 musicals over the last 18 years, many with Trilogy Repertory Company in Basking Ridge, Ridge HS, Somerset Hills Drama Workshop and S.H.A.D.E., also in Basking Ridge, as well as various theatre companies and schools throughout New Jersey. She spent many years at St. James Church in Basking Ridge as a pianist and cantor/soloist. In September of 2005, she became the accompanist for the OLM Family Folk Choir, and in June, 2006 became Director of Sacred Music. |
